Mike and Sean volunteered to go on rounds in the critical care unit where they saw a complicated patient with many conditions. They also observed the heart failure clinic where patients have their vital signs taken and their medications titrated to the maximum doses to control the heart failure.
When we met up with them after rounds they had white coats on that the pharmacists at the hospital wear.
The rest of us split up into 3 groups and went to different acute care wards to review less complicated, but just as interesting, patient cases. We discussed a few patients' medical conditions and provided input as to whether we felt the medication regimen was appropriate. It was interesting to compare which diseases are prevalent in Thailand vs. the United States as well as which medications are used first line in each country.
