In Thailand, pharmacists play a big role in consumer protection. Pharmacists are responsible for ensuring the safety of OTC medications, cosmetics, and food. The pharmacist explained how she would obtain samples of these products and test them for banned substances such as certain chemicals, preservatives and banned medications.
After explaining her role as a pharmacist in consumer protection, we toured a facility in which honey products are produced. We learned about the many safety precautions to prevent contamination.
